Who Am I?
Peace to the Gods & the Earths,
My name is Kean ASÈ, but my real name is Keynan J. Ivey. I was born and raised in Camden, NJ, and I wear many hats: music artist, producer, businessman, and engineer. From a young age, I've been captivated by music. If you're familiar with the Camden/Philly area, you may have heard of the song "Kick The Ball" by The Krown Rulers. The rapper on that track is MC Grand Pu, who just so happens to be my uncle.
Growing up, my mother’s boyfriend was also a rapper in Camden. He’d often have CDs of his music on the table, and I’d listen to them, writing my own raps in response. But it wasn't just raps—I was writing stories, poems, and anything else that sparked my imagination. By the time I was 15, I had a microphone, an interface, and a computer to record my own music. At that point, I was known as Youingin’ Up ‘N Grindin’ Prodigy (YUNG Prodigy).
Fast forward to today, I now go by Kean ASÈ, and I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some incredible milestones. I've opened for Beanie Sigel, performed in front of Camden’s City Hall, taken the stage at Rutgers Camden College, and even acted in the film Sons of Sin. I’ve also been a part of a podcast featured in WHYY's newspaper, among many other accomplishments.
